Nike takes lead on climate change

According to a Feb. 13 article in the Portland Business Journal, Nike and other retail giants have teamed up to form the Business for Innovative Climate & Energy Policy (BICEP). The coalition supports federal implementation of a national cap-and-trade system for carbon emissions. At the top of BICEP’s agenda are limits on companies’ greenhouse gas emissions and clean energy development.

At Climate Counts, we believe that companies need to not only take individual responsibility of their supply chains, but also take a leadership role in supporting progressive climate policy. We applaud the efforts of Nike and BICEP in taking a step toward meeting this benchmark and look forward to tracking their progress.
